Work & Experience
As a UN English Teacher for Syrian Refugees, I played a critical role in providing quality education to a diverse group of learners under challenging circumstances. Throughout that year, I navigated a classroom environment with over 35 students, each with varying ages and educational backgrounds, often with limited to no resources available. My dedication and adaptability were instrumental in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students felt empowered to improve their English language skills despite the challenges. Through innovative teaching methods and compassionate mentorship, I helped students overcome barriers and build confidence in their academic journey.
During my time, where I worked in a short-term position, I immersed myself in exploring various teaching techniques and methods. This experience afforded me valuable insights into the intricacies of the international curriculum. Over the course of three months, I engaged deeply with educational practices, adapting my approach to meet the diverse needs of students. This opportunity strengthened my ability to innovate within the classroom and enriched my understanding of effective teaching methodologies in an international setting.
My role involved implementing the IBPYP curriculum, which emphasizes inquiry-based learning and holistic education. In Grade 2, I focused on laying strong foundational skills across various subjects, fostering a love for learning and curiosity in young minds. Meanwhile, in Grade 6, I guided students through more advanced concepts, preparing them for the transition to higher grades. This dual role challenged me to adapt my teaching methods to meet the developmental needs and academic goals of each age group. Working within the IBPYP framework allowed me to integrate global perspectives and critical thinking skills into my lessons, nurturing well-rounded students who were equipped to thrive in an interconnected world
During my training period, I spent three months observing classes and teachers. This experience provided me with valuable insights into different teaching methodologies and classroom management techniques. I had the opportunity to learn from seasoned educators, observing their instructional strategies and how they engaged with students. This hands-on training not only deepened my understanding of effective teaching practices but also allowed me to apply what I learned in a real classroom setting. It was a pivotal experience that helped shape my approach to teaching and prepared me for my role in education.
