Curriculum utilized: American Duties: • Teach Mathematics and English to Grade 4 learners on a daily basis. • Conduct lessons in an inclusive manner using audio and visual technology to aid learning. • Conduct and co-ordinate assessments (e.g. Map Testing) and record students’ progress in order to provide feedback to Kip McGrath Education Centre, ADEK and Al Watan School. • Build a rapport with students to establish an environment of mutual respect. • Foster an environment of knowledge and idea sharing with colleagues. • Encourage best practice methodology amongst colleagues. • Tuition of students with learning disabilities in order to improve their Map Scores in Mathematics and English. • Act as communication liaison between Kip McGrath Education Centre and Al Watan School regarding timetable and class list updates. • Discuss student progress with parents during Parent/Teacher meetings. • Conduct meetings with Kip McGrath staff to discuss issues that may have been over looked during the day. • Attend Al Watan School staff meetings where possible. • Assist Al Watan School with their Guided Reading Programme, which entailed supervision of different student groups for reading. • Rescheduling timeslots on timetable to accommodate Map Testing and/or class observations. • Responsible for stationery orders, and liaison with IT/Facilities department at Al Watan School when IT equipment/stock is depleted or due for replacement. • Familiarize students with fire drill procedure by placing information on the notice board in the classroom and reviewing it weekly with the students

Curriculum Utilized: CAPS Duties: • Class teacher of 45 students, responsible for teaching all subjects namely; ▪ English ▪ Afrikaans ▪ Mathematics ▪ Science ▪ History ▪ Geography • Prepare lessons and taking into account students’ understanding of language, behavior, academic and prior knowledge. • Ensure that learning is interactive and make use of a variety of strategies (e.g. audio and visual) to enhance the curriculum outcome. • Establish a classroom environment that fosters positive learning and actively engages learners in the learning process by encouraging questions, opinions and debates. • Understand and utilize learners’ own experiences as a fundamental and valuable resource. • Assist departmental head with identifying aspects which require special attention (e.g. students with learning or behavioral challenges) and assist in providing a positive and sustainable outcome. • Co-ordinate and control academic activities of each subject taught (e.g. encourage and coordinate Book or Science Week to increase students’ interest in the subject). • Assign and rotate roles to encourage student responsibility by assigning class duties to students (e.g. line leader, attendance register collector etc.). • On a quarterly basis, plan, coordinate, control and administer each learners’ academic report. • Build a good rapport with fellow educators, so that reciprocated learning and knowledge-sharing takes place effortlessly. • Attend educational seminars and workshops to ensure awareness of current developments in educational thinking and curriculum development. • Ensure that Parent/Teacher meetings take place quarterly or sooner, to discuss students’ conduct and academic progress.
